C.S. Venkatakrishnan, widely known as Venkat, is Group Chief Executive of Barclays. He joined the bank in 2016 as Chief Risk Officer, having previously spent over two decades at JPMorgan in a range of senior risk and quantitative roles. His background is rooted in risk management and quantitative analysis, with a doctorate in mathematics from MIT underpinning a career built on financial modelling and institutional risk oversight.
He succeeded Jes Staley as Group CEO in November 2021. Since taking the helm, he has overseen a period of strategic restructuring at Barclays, including efforts to rebalance the group's investment banking and consumer lending operations.
