C.S. Venkatakrishnan, widely known as Venkat, is Group Chief Executive of Barclays. He joined the bank in 2016 as Chief Risk Officer, having previously spent over two decades at JPMorgan in a range of senior risk and quantitative roles. His background is rooted in risk management and quantitative analysis, with a doctorate in mathematics from MIT underpinning a career built on financial modelling and institutional risk oversight.

He succeeded Jes Staley as Group CEO in November 2021. Since taking the helm, he has overseen a period of strategic restructuring at Barclays, including efforts to rebalance the group's investment banking and consumer lending operations. He has spoken publicly on the importance of disciplined capital allocation and the role of large banks in supporting economic activity.
