Niklas Zennström is a Swedish technology entrepreneur best known as co-founder of Skype, the voice-over-internet platform that reshaped global communications before its acquisition by Microsoft. He also co-founded the peer-to-peer file-sharing service Kazaa. Drawing on that background as an operator, he established Atomico, the European venture capital firm, where he serves as founding partner. Atomico focuses on backing technology companies founded outside Silicon Valley, with a particular emphasis on European founders scaling internationally. Zennström is also known for his work in environmental philanthropy, co-founding the Zennström Philanthropies foundation, which supports climate and environmental causes.
